Roberts Ruehl Death – St. John Fisher University Assistant Professor Roberts Ruehl affectionately known as Rob has sadly passed away. He died leaving those that knew him devastated. He was confirmed dead through a Facebook post made on Tuesday 19th September 2023 that reads “I got word today that my former student, friend, colleague, and quality human being Robert Ruehl has passed away. I don’t yet know the circumstance of his death but I am heart broken”. The cause of his death was not stated.
Roberts Ruehl Education
According to his LinkedIn, Roberts Ruehl embarked on his educational journey at Monroe Community College, where he successfully earned his Associate of Arts and Sciences (A.A.S.) degree with a focus on Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies in 1997. Subsequently, he pursued higher education at St. John Fisher University, culminating in the attainment of a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in English and Philosophy in the year 2000. Ruehl’s academic pursuits didn’t end there; he continued to expand his knowledge and expertise.
Between 2004 and 2008, he dedicated himself to studies at Colgate Rochester Crozer Divinity School. Later, he pursued advanced degrees at Syracuse University, where he obtained a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) in Religious Studies, specializing in the Philosophy of Religion. His thirst for knowledge led him to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Religious Studies at the same institution.

In addition to his academic achievements, Ruehl’s professional journey has been marked by diverse experiences. He served as a Team Leader in the US Army at Fort Drum, New York, from March 1993 to July 1995. Later, he took on the role of Residential Counselor at Pathway Houses of Rochester, NY, spanning from April 2002 to July 2005. In this role, he was responsible for maintaining client records, providing individual counseling, facilitating group meetings, and delivering lectures on conflict transformation and peace to both clients and staff.
Roberts Ruehl Career
Ruehl’s commitment to community and spiritual engagement led him to become the Director of Member Services at the First Unitarian Church of Rochester, NY, for a period of one year and two months from July 2005 to August 2006. Subsequently, he served as a Chaplain Intern at the Rochester Psychiatric Center for 11 months, from August 2006 to June 2007. Over time, he assumed the role of a Teaching Assistant from August 2010 to May 2014 and eventually progressed to the position of Lecturer.
As a dedicated educator, Ruehl served in the Department of Philosophy for a total of 2 years and 8 months as a Lecturer. His dedication and expertise were recognized, leading to his promotion to the position of Visiting Assistant Professor. In July 2023, he achieved the milestone of becoming an Assistant Professor, solidifying his commitment to the academic and philosophical pursuits that have defined his career.
