Robert Khananisho Death – A 47-year-old man fatally shot inside a North York bar on Friday night was targeted, Toronto police say. The victim has been identified as Robert Khananisho of Toronto. According to reports, Robert Khananisho passed away from injuries sustained in the shooting. The incident took place at Avellino Social Club in the area of Islington Avenue and Millwick Drive at approximately 10:00 p.m.
How did the shooting happen?
Khananisho was found suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to responding officers. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident despite life-saving efforts. “This is a targeted shooting. So I want to reassure the public, this is not a random shooting at a bar,” Const. Alex Li told reporters on Saturday. “The individual was targeted and, unfortunately, was killed tragically as a result.”
Why the shooting happened?
Homicide detectives will try to figure out why the shooting happened. He said that the bar was open when the incident happened and asked customers who haven’t talked to authorities to do so. Police are also looking at security footage from the building to try to figure out what happened. This was the second time cops had been called to the area because shots had been fired. Officers found a car with bullet holes on March 31.
No one was hurt, as far as we know. Police said the suspect took off in a white SUV. When asked if the shooting has anything to do with what happened last month, Li said that police are aware of it and looking into it. But at the moment, they are not linked. Khananisho is the 16th person who has been killed in the city this year.
