Richard Snyder Obituary, Hagerstown MD, Teacher at Clear Spring High School Has Died: We share the news of Richard Snyder’s demise with great sadness. Mr. Snyder passed away on May 15, 2024, in peace. Friends and family gathered around his bedside. With his sister Sherry clutching his hand, he felt content. Many of you who are viewing this are either parents of past students, former coworkers, or a mix of things. He took great pride in having had a good influence on thousands of young people’s lives as an educator. For many, including myself, he served as a friend and mentor.
Ken Simcox gave me a tour of the facility when I went for an interview to become a teacher at CSHS in 1993. I got to know Mr. Snyder on that tour. After we started working together, we soon became friends. With the History Club, we took a tour of the East Coast. Dick had a season ticket (behind home plate), so we went to a lot of Suns games, Broadway shows, and Orioles vs. Yankees ball games. During the O’s vs. Yanks games, we donned alternate team jerseys; mine never had pinstripes. Together with Julie Becker and Michele Althouse, we supported the United States athletes at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta.
Although we, the living, lament Mr. Snyder’s passing, he would not wish for us to be in mourning. Encourage your preferred team, particularly if you’re a Yankees supporter; consider adopting a Yankees fan persona for a single game, or at least a single inning. Have a cool beer. Attend a baseball game. Grab a warm Krumpe’s donut right away. Enjoy a substantial supper with loved ones and company. Remember to vote, too!
Information on the memorial service for Mr. Snyder will be released later.
