Richard Dow Death – A 77-year-old Ebensburg man died in a Cambria Township accident Thursday afternoon when his SUV was struck by a truck. The victim has been identified as Richard Dow. According to reports, Richard Dow, a resident of Ebensburg, Pennsylvania passed away from injuries sustained in the car accident. It was said that Richard Dow was going onto Route 22 at the Uni-Mart. The SUV was then hit by a three-axle truck going west.
How did the crash happen?
The report says that after the first crash, the tri-axle also hit a Cambria County Sheriff’s SUV. Dow was said to be dead when the police arrived at the scene. Cambria County Coroner Jeff Lees said that the man’s wife and the two officers who were in the sheriff’s car were taken to the hospital. The driver of the truck was not injured. The family dog was in the SUV when it crashed, and it had to be put to sleep.

On Monday evening, a head-on collision on Duman Road in Blacklick Township claimed the life of a young kid from Ebensburg. The boy was six years old. As a result of the collision, the driver of the second vehicle was also taken from this world.
After 5 p.m., a 2021 Volkswagen Jetta piloted by Mitchell T. Teeter, 23, of Nanty Glo, drove into the southbound lane of travel and collided with a 2016 Volkswagen Tiguan driven by Vincent F. Rietscha III, 41, of Ebensburg, as reported by state police based in Ebensburg. The Rietscha car was headed south when it was struck head-on while it was in motion.
The Cambria County Coroner’s office arrived on the scene and confirmed that Teeter was dead. Rietscha was taken to Conemaugh Health System for evaluation and treatment of what was believed to be a significant injury. Rietscha’s kid, who was six years old and was fastened in a child safety seat that faced forward, was flown to UPMC Children’s Hospital by a LifeFlight medical helicopter where he was later pronounced dead.
