Coquitlam Shooting Investigations – Laws enforcement agencies are investigating a deadly shooting Friday morning in Coquitlam, B.C. According to Coquitlam RCMP, one officer has passed away following a double shooting at the City Centre, another Maple Ridge Mountie is critically injured following the incident. The incident happened at approximately 11 A.M., in the area of at Pinetree Way and Glen Drive.
Law enforcement agencies are urging the public to avoid the area of the incident as it is still an active crime scene. In addition, traffic is restricted on both streets. The Coquitlam RCMP, ERTs, and other first responders are on the site in response to unverified reports of shots fired in the City Centre core. Glen has been closed between Pinetree Way and High Street. Glen Drive is closed between Pinetree Way and High Street, and a police helicopter is flying overhead.
Members of the Lower Mainland RCMP Emergency Response unit (ERT) are also on the site, with one observed walking with a body shield, and a police dog unit is nearby. Victim services are also said to be on standby. The RCMP has yet to issue a press release or a statement regarding the incidents. The City of Coquitlam has also shuttered the Glen Pine Pavilion for the remainder of the day, canceling all scheduled programs and activities.
