Rayvell E. Lofton Death- 20-year-old Rantoul man murdered in a shooting

Death: 20-year-old Rantoul man murdered in a shooting – Rayvell E. Lofton, a 20-year-old Rantoul man murdered in a shooting Tuesday night, has been named by Champaign County Coroner Duane Northrup.

According to news-gazette.com, Mr. Lofton was shot inside a house in the 600 block of Saint Andrews Circle in Rantoul and was pronounced dead at 9:30 p.m. Northrup announced in a statement today that the surgery will take place on Tuesday.

Police in Rantoul said they were summoned to the area at 7:49 p.m. on a report of a probable gunshot. On Thursday, an autopsy will be performed. Rantoul police, the state police crime scene services section, and the coroner’s office are all investigating the death.

The obituary will be published online by the family and will contain funeral plans, dates, and burial arrangements.
