What happened to Raymund Ellison?
He was behind them on an innertube floating, but when they turned away and then back, he was no longer there. The dive team from the Macon-Bibb Fire Department looked for Ellison on Sunday and Monday, and his body was located the following day, on Tuesday. This week, the body of Ellison will be taken to the GBI crime lab so that an autopsy may be performed. Only six feet of water could be seen beneath the surface, as stated by Sgt. Bubba Stanford of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.
According to him, the fact that there was a lot of activity on the river posed a problem during the search. During the holiday weekend for Memorial Day, there were still people floating down the river. Divers had a difficult time as well because of the undercurrent that moved the sand and pebbles beneath them.
People are reminded by Stanford that it is absolutely necessary for swimmers to adhere to safety protocols when in the river. His family members posted that “Raymund Ellison was a very energetic, kind, sweet, loving young man. He spent a lot of time working at Kroger, and anytime he could get with family and friends. He was very funny and outgoing. He was very loved and very much appreciated.”
