THE STORY – On Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at approximately 12:30 P.M., the Panola Country Sheriff’s Office received a call for service at a resident on Highway 35 North. When the Deputies arrived, 40-year-old Marcus Wheatley was found dead from gunshot wounds, according to law enforcement agency. As PSCO Investigators processed the crime scene, information was developed that 20-year-old Cadarrius Pride, A.K.A “Superstar Pride” was the shooting suspect, according to investigating department, Sheriff Shane Phelps, along with PSCO Deputies, began a fugitive Investigation to attempt to locate Pride and take him into custody.
During the course of the investigation, Chief Deputy Reginald Lantern was contacted by family member and notified that Pride wanted to surrender. At approximately 4:47 P.M., Pride surrendered to Chief Lantern and was transported to the Panola Country Detention Center. Famous Mississippi Rapper and Song Writer Superstar Pride has been arrested and charged with murder in the deadly shooting of a former friend. Superstar Pride was arrested Wednesday night in Panola County in connection with the fatal shooting of his friend who allegedly turned rival Marcus Wheatley. According to reports, Marcus Wheatley passed away after he was shot by Rapper Superstar Pride-born Cadarrius Pride 12 times. He passed away at the scene of the incident. The deadly shooting happened in Sardis, MS.
Who Is Rapper Superstar Pride?
American rapper and composer Cadarrius Pride is best known by his stage name, Superstar Pride. On the US Billboard Hot 100, his track “Painting Pictures” peaked at position #25. He’s always been into music, but he got into rapping while he was in college. He became famous after his song “Painting Pictures” became a TikTok sensation. Major platforms momentarily removed the music because of a copyrighted sample, however, the problem has now been fixed.

The suspect in a fatal shooting is being charged with first-degree murder. Batesville resident Keith Lamont Harmon Jr., 19, was arrested on August 21. After residents of the Links apartment complex reported hearing gunfire at approximately 2 a.m., police responded. John Adams, 24, from Oxford, was taken to North Mississippi Medical Centre Tupelo, where he later died from his wounds. Several eyewitnesses were able to describe Harmon’s car. The Panola County Sheriff’s Office and the Batesville Police Department executed a traffic stop on the vehicle shortly after, and Harmon was arrested inside. Harmon had a court appearance in Lafayette County. His bond is one million dollars.
