Horren Randy Tyler Death – Randy Tyler, a 7-year veteran of the Madison Police has passed away after an incident that happened while he was on duty. He was shot dead today in Brandon, Mississippi. Tyler served as a leader and a mentor to a significant number of officers in the Madison County Sheriff’s Office. The Special Response Team (SRT) from the Madison Police Department was dispatched to Brandon, Mississippi, on June 1, 2023, at around 7:00 AM.

Madison officer shot dead in Mississippi

They were sent out to Brandon in order to provide assistance to other law enforcement agencies who were dealing with a barricaded suspect at a residence in Brandon. Randy Tyler, a member of the Madison Police Special Response Team was fatally injured by the suspect during a subsequent SWOT operation that took place later that morning at the residence. The incident is currently being looked into by the Mississippi State Bureau of Investigation.

The name of the officer who was killed in the line of duty is Horren Randy Tyler. He has been with the Madison Police Department for the past seven years. Randy Tyler was the Department’s Field Training Coordinator, which meant that in addition to being a valuable member of the Department’s Special Response Team.

He was also responsible for overseeing the training and career development of newly hired police officers. In addition to that, he was a supervisor in the Narcotics Division of the Department. Randy Tyler served as the Chief of Police for the Ridgeland Police Department until his retirement before beginning his position at Madison. Chief Tyler was a graduate of the FBI National Academy’s 228th Session, which took place at Quantico, Virginia.

He was also an active member of the Mississippi Chapter of the FBI National Academy Associates. Every single one of Randy’s coworkers, family members, and friends will miss him tremendously. During this trying time, the Madison Police Department is reaching out to the community for assistance and begs for prayers specifically. After the funeral preparations have been finalized, they will be delivered to the mourners.
