Rachel Foster Accident – After an accident involving an electric scooter in November, Rachel Foster suffered a ‘catastrophic brain injury’ that brought her dangerously close to passing away. While riding an electric scooter around the neighborhood with her husband, John, Rachel Foster lost control of the vehicle and fell off.
Her skull was severely injured, and other bones in her body were broken as a result of the accident. Rachel has been recovering from the surgery she had at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta and preparing to run the Boston Marathon for the past few months.
Her dedication paid off on Monday, when she ran in the 127th Boston Marathon and finished in the top ten. Rachel completed the race in a total of 5 hours, 44 minutes, and 46 seconds. Despite the fact that her time has not been released, it is quite evident that Rachel Foster is a winner of very spectacular proportions. She surprised everyone by waking up a day before her life support was supposed to be turned off, including her physicians and loved ones. In addition to that, she had 17 fractures, which makes what she has accomplished now even more impressive.
“They basically said a severely catastrophic brain injury, which is a term for pretty much the worst type of brain injury, where there is not really a chance of coming back,” said her husband John. “I later found out in medical literature that a severely catastrophic brain injury is a term for pretty much the worst type of brain injury.”
Rachel Foster, who owns Moni’s Pasta and Pizza in Edmond, Oklahoma, and who recently finished the Boston Marathon, is the head cook there.
