Draymond Green will not be playing for the Warriors in their pivotal playoff game on Thursday night. The NBA made the announcement late Tuesday night that the Dubs star would be suspended for Golden State’s game against the Kings for stomping on Domantas Sabonis earlier in the week. The incident occurred earlier this week. In their announcement of the decision, league executives stated that Green would be suspended “in part based on Green’s history of unsportsmanlike acts.”
Green would not be allowed to play for the remainder of the season. It did not appear that the 33-year-old would be granted permission to appeal; consequently, the Warriors will have to try to avoid going down 0-3 in the series with Sacramento without one of their finest players in order to have any chance of winning.
The contentious altercation took place in the fourth quarter of Game 2 on Monday night… when Sabonis and Green became entangled in one another while competing for a rebound. After falling to the ground, Sabonis grabbed Green’s right ankle while he was still on the ground. As a retaliatory action, Draymond stomped on the chest of the Sacramento center. Green was ejected from the game after receiving a technical foul from Sabonis, who also received a foul himself.
Even though Sabonis was not given a suspension for Game 3, there is still a possibility that he will be unable to play in it. He is suffering with a sternum injury that was caused by Draymond’s kick, which could force him to miss the game. The crucial match will get under way at the Chase Center in San Francisco at 7 PM local time.
