Pregnant 19-year-old girl shot and killed in Harrisburg: Following reports that a pregnant 19-year-old woman was shot and killed in Harrisburg on Monday night, police have opened a homicide investigation. Tyemeshia Miller of Harrisburg was shot in the back and died, apparently from a homicide, according to the Dauphin County Coroner’s office.
Miller was five months along with her unborn son, who passed away on Monday night. Asphyxia from the mother’s death was determined to be the cause of death. Thomas Carter, the commissioner of Harrisburg police, stated on Tuesday that at approximately 5:45 p.m., a gunman opened fire at a gathering of individuals near Woodbine and 4th Streets.
Without a 911 call, officers who were already in the vicinity responded. Carter stated, “They were about thirty seconds off, but in the right neighborhood.” It hurts, but we’re trying. Although every murder in the city is tragic, this one is more so because the victim was a pregnant 19-year-old woman.
“Who in their right mind fires into a crowd that contains children?” Carter continued. Monuments are starting to seem old and boring to me. Police stated that while they are not ruling out the possibility that Miller was the intended target, they do suspect someone in the crowd was. As of this now, there is no evidence linking the incident to the May 3 grocery store massacre that claimed two lives.
