Rockford Speedway Fair Shooting Today – Multipe enforcement agencies and emergency crews are responding to a shooting situation in Rockford, Illinois on Saturday, June 3rd, 2023. The Rockford Police Department says that officers were sent to the Rockford Speedway located at 9572 Forest Hills Rd, Loves Park following reports of a possible shooting at the fair. There are unconfirmed reports that the shooting victim was located at the front gate. According to sources, the scene is secured.
Halstead and Central have some of the alleged suspects in custody after a high-speed chase. Two black males are reportedly in custody, 1 westbound on foot and 1 trapped inside a car. Officers who came to the scene did not immediately say who the victim and the suspect were. People are asked to stay away from the area while authorities look into what happened.

Two people in a grey car made an attempt to rob the driver of an SUV at the Stop-N-Go on Charles Street at 12:25 am on Saturday (12/17), according to a news release. Before all the cars left the scene, the female passenger got out of the SUV and opened fire on the two robbery suspects. Witnesses later saw the gray automobile that was reportedly used in the heist dropping off a 21-year-old male gunshot victim at a nearby hospital. At the time this article was published, the victim’s status was critical but stable.
According to the news release, Rockford PD found the vehicle at Auburn and N. Court Street a short while later and detained 3 additional individuals. The Winnebago County State’s Attorney’s Office has filed three felonies against 24-year-old Lashwell Gillis of Rockford, including Armed Robbery, Aggravated Robbery, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon.
When Rockford Police “observed an SUV arrive at a local hospital with multiple bullet strikes along the driver’s side,” according to the news release, a second shooting on Saturday was reported at 1:05 pm. According to Rockford Police, a 25-year-old male victim is in critical but stable condition after suffering numerous life-threatening gunshot wounds. According to the complaint, witnesses told police that an SUV was being shot at by a grey automobile that had pulled up next to it at N. Main and Auburn. Around 7:45 p.m. on Sunday, Rockford Police were alerted after a 16-year-old male shooting victim was dropped off at a nearby hospital. According to a news release, the victim was picked up in the 1400 block of Overdene Avenue. A 15-year-old shooting victim with a non-life-threatening leg wound was discovered on the 1400 block of Barton Boulevard just 5 minutes later, according to the Rockford Police Department. Officers found four weapons and ammunition during the inquiry.
