SAN JOSE, California~ On Thursday, a man who was in police custody at a hospital in Northern California shattered a glass with a metal oxygen tank, and then he jumped off a ledge to commit suicide after getting into an altercation with an officer and a nurse at the hospital.
The individual is reportedly being held in custody by the San Jose police department after he disregarded a court order. A prior condition required immediate medical attention, so the cops took him to the nearest emergency room. The defendant is accused of assaulting a police officer and threatening to use an oxygen tank to attack both the officer and a nurse. the officer was sent to the hospital for treatment. They left the room in order to make a telephone call requesting further aid.
When the man learned that he was the only person in the hospital room, the police say that he shattered the glass with the oxygen tank and then jumped out onto a ledge. The officer and two other hospital security officers returned to the room in an effort to stop the man from escaping, but he was able to escape by jumping off the ledge instead, resulting in injuries to himself.
The subject was transported to the hospital, but sadly, they were unable to save them in time. An investigation is being conducted into the circumstances surrounding his death while he was in police custody. The city of San Jose is located around 32.19 kilometers (about 20 miles) southeast of the financial hub of San Francisco.
