According to Cascade County Sheriff/Coroner Jesse Slaughter, 73-year-old Philip Schol of Great Falls, Texas, was identified as the casualty of a two-vehicle crash that occurred around 7:40 a.m. on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, around mile marker 277, close to the exit of the Great Falls airport.
Schol was driving a Ford Ranger when he lost control while traveling south on a sloppy, partially covered in snow and ice road, according to Montana Highway Patrol. The vehicle went over the median and crossed into the northbound lane of I-15.
- The recent flooding of Australia’s main northern freight routes has reignited proposals for a cross-country rail connection.
A Toyota 4-Runner which was heading north was crossed by Schol’s and the two vehicles collided. Both vehicles came to rest on the right-hand shoulder of the northbound lane.
Philip Schol was reportedly pronounced dead at the scene of the crash while the other driver did not sustain serious injuries, according to the MHP.
