According to his social media page, Peter Stefan, a mortician, and owner of Graham, Putnam, and Mahoney Funeral Home in Worcester’s Main South district, died at the age of 85.
Stefan was well-known in the area for giving burial services to the underprivileged and veterans, and for burying Boston Marathon terrorist Tamerlan Tsarnaev, who received national notice.
“We mourn the loss of Peter Stefan with great sadness. Peter was genuinely one-of-a-kind, a man of substance and a fixture in the Worcester business community. Everyone whose lives he touched will miss him terribly “On Monday afternoon, Stefan’s personal Facebook page stated.
Stefan was also a cornerstone in Worcester, where he assisted in the establishment of the Family Health Center on Queen Street. In 2013, he was given a key to the city.
