Payshas Whatley Death – On the afternoon of March 4th, 2023, around 4:45 PM, officers from the CSPD were dispatched to the 1600 block of Gatehouse Circle to investigate reports of a gunshot that had taken place there. The reports indicated that the incident occurred there. Police found two adults who had already passed away when they arrived. The Homicide Unit of the CSPD responded to the scene and is continuing their investigation. The autopsy of one of the deceased individuals has been completed by the El Paso County Coroner’s Office. The deceased adult has been named as Payshas Whatley, who was 20 years old and a resident of Colorado Springs.
The death of Mr. Palomera is being examined as a possible suicide
The death of Ms. Whatley is being examined as a possible homicide at this time; however, the official cause and manner of death will be determined by the Coroner’s Office. The El Paso County Coroner’s Office completed the autopsy of the second adult who had died on Monday, March 6, 2023. The autopsy was performed on the deceased adult. The deceased adult has been identified as Enrique Palomera, who was 22 years old and a resident of Colorado Springs. The body of Palomera was discovered. The death of Mr. Palomera is being examined as a possible suicide at this time; however, the official cause and manner of death will be determined by the Coroner’s Office.
This is the third person to die as a result of a homicide
A romantic relationship existed between Mr. Palomera and Ms. Whately at the time that the murder took place. The safety of the general public is not in jeopardy, and the authorities are not looking for any further potential suspects at this moment. This is the third person to die as a result of a homicide that has taken place in the city of Colorado Springs in the year 2023. Over the same period of time the previous year, there were 13 homicides that were under investigation.
