According to court records, Gosal has no prior criminal history in British Columbia. The murder marks the sixth homicide in Vancouver in 2023.

Police also mentioned that a video of the incident was doing the rounds on social media and urged people not to spread it further. Monday morning, the Starbucks location did not open for business.
