Willis Anderson was born in Bruceton, Tennessee, and had a difficult childhood because his mother, Loretta Lynn Anderson, abandoned him and his three other siblings to their father Ernest when he was very young. Ernest, in turn, became an alcoholic and an addict, abusing his children physically. Willis relocated to a trailer park when he was 17 years old, and was later joined by his siblings when the abuse got too severe. When Willis’ coach accepted them into his home, the four siblings were able to move into a respectable home.
Willis’ personal life was in shambles, but his school provided a haven for him, and he was able to play American Football for Hollow Rock-Bruceton Central High School. He was selected West Tennessee Player of the Year and Regional Most Valuable Player twice, and he was named All-State twice. As a result of his accomplishment, colleges from all around the country have given him scholarships to play for their teams.
Willis elected to go and play for the University of Mississippi, where he quickly established himself as a top athlete. He was a two-time First-Team All-SEC and two-time All-American during his four years with the Ole Miss Rebels. For his outstanding performance as his team’s linebacker, he received the SEC Defensive Player of the Year, the Jack Lambert Award, and the highly regarded Dick Butkus Award in his last year. Patrick also earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice.
Willis was taken as the 11th overall choice in the 2007 NFL draft and signed a seven-year contract with the San Francisco 49ers. His new contract increased his net worth significantly, and he became a player to keep an eye on. From the start of his career in 2007 through 2013, he was picked for the Pro Bowl seven times, was named NFL Linebacker of the Year three times, and was named 49ers MVP twice. Willis made money from endorsing goods like Rockin’ Refuel, ASICS, and Foot Locker in addition to playing in the NFL. Although Willis had a fantastic career with the 49ers, he was forced to retire in 2015 due to a devastating toe injury.
Willis is now the CEO of a tech company in Silicon Valley, a career transition from running on the field. After coming to California, he met Eren Niazi, the founder of Open Source Storage, and after a few meetings, Niazi named Willis as the company’s Executive Vice President for Partnerships, as well as a board member. His newfound corporate success has turned into a fresh source of income for him. Willis hasn’t married yet, but he is dating Shenai Saifi in his personal life.
