Death: At his Ascension home, an elderly Louisiana man allegedly kills his wife
After reportedly shooting his wife in their Louisiana home, an 83-year-old man was released on bond. Marvin Stephens was detained by Ascension Parish sheriff’s officials on Wednesday following the shooting at the couple’s home off Highway 42 east of Airline Highway, according to press reports.
According to chron.com, Patricia Stephens, the victim, was transported to a hospital where she subsequently died. Her spouse was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and illegal weapon use. After posting an $85,000 bond, he was released on Thursday.
It’s unclear whether he has a counsel who could speak for him. The Stephens family told authorities the suspect suffers from dementia, according to Chief of Criminal Operations Donald Capello.
