The Ontario Provincial Police have initiated an inquiry into the death of a man who was detained in Toronto on Friday. The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) confirmed the probe Saturday morning, confirming the death of a 32-year-old male who was apprehended by Toronto police officers. The SIU examines police-involved occurrences, including fatalities.
According to the watchdog, a guy was apprehended on Friday morning near Wellesley Street East and Jarvis Street. He was loaded into a police car and driven to the station. The guy then “ingested a substance” while in the police vehicle, which was rerouted to the hospital, according to the SIU.
