Oliver Harris Death – Obituary not available at the moment: A tragic dirt bike crash occurred yesterday on the D&R Canal Path between White Head Road and Carnegie Road at 3:00 p.m., according to the New Jersey State Park Police.
According to midjersey.news, Oliver Harris, 40, of Trenton, NJ, was confirmed as the victim by New Jersey State Park Police. He was retrieved from the canal by emergency services and transferred to Capital Health Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
A 9-1-1 call was received about 3:15 p.m. claiming a car had crashed into the Delaware & Raritan Canal State Park canal and was submerged. The incident was initially reported in many areas, including the Whitehead Road region and Route 1, as well as behind WaWa near Bakers Basin Road. To determine the exact spot of the crash, Lawrence Police, Lawrence Fire Departments, EMS, and Capital Health Paramedics entered the trail from several points.
A person waving the fire truck down near Mile Post 4.4 on the North Bound Side of Route 1 was discovered by the Lawrence Fire Department (Tower 20 crew). It was a 9-1-1 caller, a friend who had observed the motorcycle crash into the canal and had pointed to the scene.
The fire crew raced down the embankment to the reported site and discovered a person in the water with severe trauma. They pulled the victim out of the water and started CPR. Police, EMS, and paramedics were all dispatched to the appropriate location. In critical condition, the victim was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center.
In the water, a dirt bike-style motorcycle was discovered. For the investigation, Lawrence Township Police closed the D&R Canal walkway from Whitehead Road to Carnagie Road.
