Rapidly, both wounded individuals were transported to nearby hospitals in critical condition, as indicated by Captain Don Weilhammer from the IMPD. Regrettably, the security guard succumbed to their injuries shortly after arriving at Eskenazi, while the other man passed away during the course of surgical intervention.

The identities of the victims have been disclosed as 24-year-old Olajawon Malik Cowherd and 39-year-old Justin Andrew Do. However, authorities have not yet unveiled which of the two individuals held the role of the security guard and who was the customer. As the investigation unfolds, law enforcement remains engaged in piecing together the circumstances that precipitated the tragic shooting. Notably, the incident occurred at the exit of the lumber yard within the store premises.

It is pertinent to mention that although the lumber yard was closed on that particular Wednesday evening, the remaining sections of the store remained accessible to customers. The incident casts a shadow over the local community, prompting reflection on the nature of the occurrence and the swift loss of life. The diligent efforts of the law enforcement agencies involved will be pivotal in unraveling the details surrounding this event, while the community grapples with the aftermath of this heartbreaking incident.
