OKC Fairgrounds Shooting Investigations – Over a dozen law enforcement agencies are responding to the report of an active shooter at the Fairgrounds on Saturday evening. According to fair goers, shots are being fired at the crowded state fair located in the General Pershing Blvd. Multiple officers with the OKC Police Department is currently on the scene for active investigations. A fight among a number of unidentified subjects escalated and weapons were allegedly brandished.
Fair goers reported a massive stampede as everyone attempted to flee the scene at the same time as shots rang out around the vicinity. A heavy police presence is currently at the scene where everyone has been urged to avoid. Locals who were able to run from the scene narrated the chaotic event, a local said many fair goers are actively sheltering in place at various location, while others are hiding under stalls. A parent said her teenage son was pushed down as he fled the scene.
At the time of this publication, the number of injured victims has not been released. OKC Police is yet to release an official statement in connection to the incident. According to reports, Oklahoma City Police Department, Tactical Units, Fire Department, Ambulances are on the scene of the incident. According to scanner, a handgun has been recovered. One gunshot victim is currently being transported to a trauma centre. Final Update:
Preliminary investigations determined the incident started as a scuffle at the Bennett Event Center, shots were fired. Investigators say the suspect fled the scene and ran North and fired more shots. Arriving law enforcement agencies evacuated the Fairgrounds as they search for the suspect involved in the incident. OCPD confirmed minutes later that three suspects has been taken into custody in connection to the shooting this evening. At least one police helicopter can been seen hovering over the scene of the incident. Officials are working to determine if this is a gang-related shooting.
