Ohio State football recruiting – The period for Ohio State’s 2023 recruiting class is almost over. The defensive line is one of the positions the Buckeyes are still concentrating on as they finish this class even though the bulk of openings have already been filled. Multiple five-star defensive linemen are being aggressively recruited by Ohio State in 2023, but on Monday, a 2024 potential was mentioned in connection with the Buckeyes. After another impressive performance against Rutgers during their homecoming trip to Columbus last weekend, Ohio State is currently 5-0.
When they go to East Lansing for this week’s game at Michigan State, the Buckeyes will make their first road trip of the year. While Ohio State’s first game on the road will dominate this week’s headlines, the Buckeyes are also frequently featured in recruiting news. Justin Scott (Chicago, IL / St. Ignatius), a five-star defensive lineman recruit, visited the Buckeyes ahead of their matchup with Rutgers. Scott was supposed to come the week before when Ohio State hosted Wisconsin, but he was unable to travel.
He was able to do so just one week later, which was fortunate for Ryan Day and the Ohio State coaching staff. Even though Scott is only a junior, he already has an amazing list of over twenty colleges that have offered him a scholarship, including Arkansas, Auburn, Texas A&M, USC, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Miami, Iowa, Michigan, Michigan State, Wisconsin, and others.
He also has a scholarship offer from Ohio State, but the Buckeyes did not make it until September 5. The Buckeyes have put a lot of effort into being candidates for Scott, despite the fact that they have only been publicly active in his recruitment for a month. The team appears to be in a fantastic position early in his recruitment after Saturday’s visit. After Ohio State’s visit, Scott told Chad Simmons of On3.com that the Buckeyes “certainly surged up to the top.” The Buckeyes will undoubtedly be delighted by this, but Scott’s recruitment is far from over.
This weekend, when the ‘Canes host North Carolina, he is set to pay a visit to Miami. Miami has been involved in Scott’s recruiting for a little while longer, so Buckeye Nation will want to keep a watch on the impending visit. Expect Ohio State to keep up the pressure on Scott in an effort to get him back to campus later this season or the following. According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Scott is the No. 4 DL prospect and the No. 31 overall prospect. He is the best player from Illinois and the top player overall.
