GAFFNEY, S.C. ~ After the dog’s body was discovered on Sunday, it is currently the subject of an inquiry. On Sunday afternoon, close to the 700 block of Holmes Street, the Gaffney Police Department reports that officers responded to a call for service in the area. When the cops arrived, they spoke with a woman who reported that her dog had been shot in the head at the intersection of Cherry Street and Oak Street.
The woman claimed that the last time she saw her dog was on Saturday night about 11 o’clock in the sunroom of her home. In an effort to locate her dog, she started hunting for him on Sunday and also wrote about it on Facebook. The woman reported that she found out her dog had been shot through a message that she received on Facebook. She then went to the area and found her dog lying on the road with a gunshot wound in the head between the eyes.
The officers were then dispatched to the Cherry Street intersection, where they discovered shot casings. Officers also spoke with some of the area’s neighbors, who reported that they spotted a male fleeing the scene after hearing gunshots and saw someone fire a weapon nearby. The dude was decked out in dark blue jeans, a black hoodie, white shoes, and a black backpack.
The dog’s owner is giving a prize for information that leads to an arrest, anyone who has information regarding the event is asked to call the Gaffney Police Department at (864) 489-8115. The owner of the dog is also offering a reward for information that leads to an arrest.
