Officer Shawn Kelly Death – Denham Springs Police Department Corporal Shawn Kelly has sadly passed away. He died on Thursday 2nd June 2023 after weeks of being in the hospital. He was involved in deadly shooting on Thursday 11th May 2023 while esponding to a disturbance. He was announced dead in a post that reads “With heavy hearts, we regret to inform you that on June 2nd at approx 1612 hrs., Corporal Shawn Kelly succumbed to the injuries sustained from multiple gun shot wounds on 05/11/23 while responding to a disturbance in Denham Springs”.
How did the incident happen?
According to the findings of the investigation, Denham Springs Police Corporal Shawn Kelly was shot while attending to a ‘disturbance’ between a man and a woman at a prominent shopping center in the city earlier this month. Kelly remained in serious condition at the hospital after he was wounded. Kelly’s wife and children are grateful to the community for their prayers and the help that they have received. She said that the family is maintaining an optimistic attitude and asked for prayers to be sustained.
On Thursday, May 11, Kelly was shot while serving his country and protecting others. The suspect, 30 year old Justin Roberts, has been identified as the shooter. After being shot by cops, the sheriff of Livingston Parish, Jason Ard, reported that Roberts passed away as a result of his injuries in the hospital.

He added After beginning his professional life in 1994 with the Louisiana Department of Corrections (DOC) and other state agencies, Kelly joined the Dallas Police Department in 2019 and is now a Taser instructor and field training officer there.
