Death: Siouxland landfill owner and philanthropist Leonard Gill Dies At 87 – Leonard Gill, a philanthropist, and businessman from Siouxland, died on Thursday, leaving a history of giving and caring. Gill, 87, was the longstanding proprietor of LP Gill Landfill outside Jackson, Nebraska, and Gill Hauling, a garbage and recycling collection service that served cities and rural areas across the tri-state region.
According to siouxcityjournal.com, Gill was also well-known for giving his time and money to a variety of community groups. Mayor Bob Scott of Sioux City, a longtime friend of Gill’s, said there were few aspects of the community to which he didn’t contribute, either financially or with his time.
“You will never meet a kinder man than Leonard Gill,” Scott stated. Gill was a community supporter, according to Scott, whether it was bidding on the Little Yellow Dog auction, volunteering with the Boys and Girls Home and Family Services, or donating to various Catholic organizations.
