Obituary: One of UCF’s most dedicated partners and philanthropists, James “Jim” Rosengren ’81, has died- on March 28, 2022, James “Jim” Rosengren ’81 passed away. Rosengren and his wife, Julia, gave multi-million dollar gifts to the College of Sciences, the College of Arts and Humanities, and UCF Athletics, among other initiatives at the university.

According to ucffoundation.org, The Rosengrens wanted to make sure their financial support of UCF would last for years to come, and while many donors focus on a single program, Rosengren frequently stated that he and his wife were passionate about so many things at UCF that they couldn’t choose just one area to fund.

Modern languages, athletics, sea turtle research, endowed professorships, and PTSD therapies for veterans and first responders were all part of their generous support for UCF. UCF President Alexander Cartwright remarked, “Jim and Julia’s extraordinary support of UCF’s academic and athletic achievement will strengthen our university and community for years.”

“Their commitment to UCF RESTORES will enable soldiers, first responders, and others suffering from PTSD to reclaim their lives.” I’ll be eternally grateful for Jim’s affection for UCF and how our campus was always ‘home’ for him.”
