Obituary – Nancy Rivest Green Has Died, What Happened?
Nancy Rivest Green, a beloved sister, and mother has sadly passed away on March 20, 2022, the announcement of her death was made known through a fundraising page. Nancy’s diagnosis of MSA took a long time to be determined because this disease is so unknown.
The cause of death has not been made known.
Before her death, Nancy wrote, “I am shocked to admit, but I’ve seemed to have passed to the other side. While I was alive I experienced a good life. I hiked, kayaked, rode bikes, traveled, and had affairs with sexy guys – in books! I got to retire, ahead of many of my friends. I got to marry the man of my dreams. It was wonderful to have him by my side – always. I was born in Massachusetts, but I didn’t become alive until I lived at the North Rim. You can get anything there…like your fully developed adult character and a husband.
Judi wrote following Nancy’s death; “I have known Nancy since 1998 when my husband and family moved to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. I worked with Nancy, who taught Elementary Special Education, as her aide. Nancy took me on my first hike and exposed me to the wonders of the Grand Canyon.”
Judi added; “Nancy and our students fared better than me after the hike! I could barely walk for three days! Nancy’s love of space inspired her to take on a mission to prepare thirty-five students, both Special Ed. and General Ed. students for an overnight experience at the Arizona Challenger Space Center, where the students would get to crew their own space mission! Nancy developed a curriculum that involved 15-classes over two months where she and I prepared the students for their mission. Nancy’s enthusiastic spirit has always evoked a desire to be curious. This is why her Multiple System Atrophy diagnoses has been so hard to process.”
