Mary Frances Flanders (1988 – 2022)
It is with immeasurable sadness that we announce our dearest Mary Frances Flanders, 33, of Dublin, Georgia, who departed from this world on April 7, 2022. She was born on June 16, 1988, to Mary Linda and Herbert Stanley in Statesville, North Carolina. She worked as a photographer and internationally published journalist before embarking on a successful career in sales. Known as Sissy to her family and close friends, or Auntie M by her beloved niece, she earned numerous pageant titles in the pursuit of a platform from which to serve the voiceless and oppressed, bringing awareness to LGBTQ issues as well as being an ambassador against addiction.
Aside from volunteering, in her spare time, she enjoyed hiking, traveling, fishing, cooking, reading, spending time with friends, and playing with her cherished canine companions, Katya, Zeus, and Iris. She was an avid equestrian, finding freedom and bliss on the back of a galloping horse. She illuminated our lives and opened our hearts with her tenacity and grace, and she taught us there is no strength greater than loving with your whole heart.
She is survived by her parents Mary Linda and Jerry Pitts, her father Stan Flanders, and her brother H. Stanley Flanders II, her niece Phoebe, and her sister-in-love Jessica Couch; as well as grandparents Mary Ann and Reid V. Harris II, Kitty Flanders, and uncle Reid V. Harris III.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 14 from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Stanley Funeral Home in Dublin, and funeral services will be held the following day, Friday, April 15 at 2:00 pm. Memorials or donations can be made in her honor to the Dublin-Laurens County Humane Society.
Stanley Funeral Home and Crematory/Dublin Chapel have charge of funeral arrangements.
