Lauren Bernett Cause Of Death, Obituary Unavailable Yet – Lauren Bernett, a softball player at James Madison University, died on Tuesday, the school confirmed.
She was 20 years old at the time. The cause of death was not given, and calls to the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Department by USA TODAY Sports were not returned.

Bernett, a sophomore catcher from McDonald, Pennsylvania, was an important part of James Madison’s run to the Women’s College World Series in 2021. Before losing back-to-back games against the Sooners in the semifinals, the Dukes defeated top-ranked and eventual champion Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.
Bernett hit.336 with nine home runs and 33 RBI this season, including setting the school’s single-game RBI record with seven against College of Charleston on April 16.
