Obituary – Eleanor Watkins Has Passed Away At Age 86

Eleanor Ruth Watkins Wichita – Eleanor Ruth Watkins, age 86, of Wichita, Kansas, formerly of Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, April 2, 2022. Eleanor was born May 18, 1935, in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania to John and Alberta (Huff) Carlisle. She had 5 brothers and 1 sister.

Eleanor graduated from New Brighton High School in 1954. After high school, she trained to become a nurse. She married the love of her life, Jim, on December 2, 1955. Together they had 3 children Bob, Rebecca, and Barbara. They recently celebrated their 66th anniversary. Eleanor was a passionate homemaker and loved working in women’s retail clothing. She worked many years at Cohill Fashions. She was an active member at Concord United Methodist Church for over 50 years. She sang in the choir, served in youth ministry, supported local and foreign missions work, and participated with the United Methodist Women Organization.

She loved Jesus and lived out her faith in devotion to her children. She was a passionate advocate for her daughter who had Down Syndrome. She enjoyed spending time with her 5 grandchildren. Eleanor loved to host friends for dinner and her longtime card club. Coming from a military family, she was dedicated to her country and supported the armed forces through volunteer work.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jim, son Bob, daughter Barbara, brothers John, Thomas, David, Robert, and sister Rebecca. She leaves to cherish her memories, daughter Rebecca (Bob) Ingram, grandchildren Heather Watkins, Chad, Emily, Megan, David Ingram, brother Lewis (Dee) Carlisle, daughter-in-law Brenda Watkins, and devoted caregivers April Criner-Shaw and Rutha Williams.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, from 5 p.m.-to 7 p.m. at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 W. Highway 54, Wichita, Kansas 67209. A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, April 7, 2022, at 10 a.m. at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 W. Highway 54, Wichita, Kansas 67209. A graveside service will follow at Resthaven Gardens of Memory, 11800 W. Highway 54, Wichita, Kansas 67209.
