Obituary: Deborah Lasher Has Died At 73 After battling Parkinson’s disease – He worked in theatre as an actor and a director. He survived the Holocaust as a child. President of the Central Council of Jews in Germany, Charlotte Knobloch reacted to his death, saying, “I am very sad. With Michael Degen we are losing a great actor, a fine person, and finally another important contemporary witness of the Nazi era.”
His accounts and books are the biggest autobiographical treasure for Germany. He was a versatile actor who equally shared theatre and the big screen. According to people, they have lost an outstanding artist, as he was an impressive man.
Deborah A. Lasher, 73, of Altoona, died late Friday evening at UPMC Altoona, following a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. She was born in Altoona, a daughter of the late L. Niles and Norma A. (Johnson) Fishell. She married Larry G. Lasher on Aug. 14, 1971, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Altoona.
Surviving is her husband of 50 years, Larry; a daughter, Randi B. Payne (Scott) of York; a son, Brian G. Lasher (Kathleen) of Dover, Del.; nine grandchildren: Brenden Lasher (Dusty), Mikayla Frantz (Tyler), Blayne Zimmerman, Alek Payne, Jenna Lasher, Kennedy Payne, Emilee Lasher, Kale Costea and Ashlynn Lasher; two sisters, Dana Cadiz (Doug) of South Windsor, Conn., and Darcy McConahy (Wayne) of Coopersburg; a brother-in-law, Leroy Lasher (Sheila) of Harrison City; and numerous extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Lindsay A. Lasher, on Feb. 6, 2020, and her in-laws, Jack and Pauline Lasher. Mrs. Lasher was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Altoona. She was a 1967 graduate of Altoona Area High School and a 1970 graduate of Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing. Deb worked as a registered nurse until her retirement in 2011.
Deb enjoyed sewing, traveling, gardening, and canning fruits and vegetables. She loved going shopping and “getting a good bargain.” Most especially, Deb was a loving mother and devoted grandmother. Friends will be received from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at Myers-Somers Funeral Home Inc., 501 Sixth Avenue, Altoona.
