“It is with great sadness that we bring you this tragic news. Greg passed away abruptly yesterday night. We are completely heartbroken. Please remember our family in your prayers at this trying time.”
On Saturday, the restaurant was closed, and it will be closed again on Sunday. The west Allentown eatery, which opened in 1968, is noted for its burgers and onion rings.
The company was founded by Fred and Connie Wert, and it was controlled by their children, including Greg. Many members of the community expressed their condolences and sadness over Greg Wert’s death on the Wert’s Cafe Facebook page.
