UPDATE – The Northbrook Police Department reports that around 2:30 a.m. on July 11, 2022, they responded to the 2800 Block of Dundee Road in response to a neighbor dispute. When police arrived, they allegedly found a suicidal adult male who may have been armed. The police used Facetime to communicate with the suspect.

The man reportedly displayed a firearm before barricading himself inside his home. Several hours later, the suspect contacted police via FaceTime again, and this time officers attempted to enter the flat before discovering the suspect dead inside. A large police presence has been reported in the north suburban Northbrook area Monday morning July 11th, 2022. According to the Northbrook Police Department, multiple officers are responding to an active situation in the area between Landwehr and Pfingsten.

Due to the ongoing investigation, the department has decided to close Dundee Road between Maria Avenue and Pfingsten Street. The closure is effective immediately. While authorities and investigators work to address the situation at this time, everyone is being warned to stay away from the area. Businesses and apartments in the neighborhood have been placed on lockdown because it is believed that there is a person in the vicinity who is equipped with a weapon.

Law enforcement officials have encouraged members of the public to seek out an alternative route. The route was blocked by a few police cars, and Chopper 7HD was flying overhead to survey the situation.
