Mr. Mitchell was one of the eldest and most respected residents of Harlesden, NW10.
He and my late parents were close friends, my Late Father & Mr. Mitchell running an association together from the 1960s and 70s & setting up a Social Centre for the Brent Community
I fondly remember the day Daddy Mitchell, upon hearing me discuss history at my parents’ house, invited me to give a talk on Jamaica’s history at his center. That invitation gave me my first platform to speak about our heritage to over 100 people, earning a standing ovation and making my mother incredibly proud
An iconic figure in our community, Daddy Mitchell was always full of infectious laughter & life.
Even at 90, he would start his day at 5 am, cooking large pots of food to feed and care for the residents of NW10 at his church hall community club. He was also actively involved in running WISCO memberships.
