Tuesday morning in Akron, Ohio, a 32-year-old woman was slain in a car accident. At approximately 8:33 a.m., a Chevy Impala and a Kia Optima travelling northbound were stopped at a red light on Machester Rd. at W. Wilbeth Rd., according to Akron Police. Consequently, a northbound Ford Taurus driven by a 35-year-old male failed to maintain an assured clear distance and struck the Kia from behind. The collision drove the Kia into the Chevrolet.
The Kia’s driver, a 32-year-old woman, was found unresponsive upon arrival and transported to Cleveland Clinic Akron General Medical Center, where she subsequently succumbed to her injuries. Neither driver of the Ford nor the Chevrolet was injured in the collision. An initial investigation revealed that haste and alcohol/drugs are suspected to have contributed to the collision. An investigation is ongoing, with charges expected following its conclusion.
