Muleshoe, TX; Sherri Harrison Death, Former Bailey County Judge dies in Lamb County car accident: Sherri Harrison, a former Bailey County judge, perished in a Lamb County collision on Wednesday night.
According to a preliminary report from the Texas Department of Public Safety, the 57-year-old Muleshoe woman was driving a Toyota Camry out of a private drive off U.S. Highway 84 at around 10:10 p.m. when she failed to yield right-of-way and pulled into the path of a truck tractor towing a semi-trailer that was traveling on U.S. Highway 84.
Harrison was taken to the Lamb County Medical Center and later declared deceased. The semi’s driver, Clay Allen Hayes, 66, of Albuquerque, New Mexico, was unharmed. Hayes was buckled up, according to the preliminary assessment; Harrison may not have been.
The collision happened at the junction of U.S. Highway 84 and FM 37. There is a posted speed restriction of 75 miles per hour and the weather is described as clean and dry. From 2005 until 2022, Harrison presided over Bailey County as a judge. She was dismissed from office due to a number of charges, including misbehavior, incompetence, and persistent alcoholism.
