A 24-year-old Atlanta teacher identified as Alexandra Morales was found dead in Mexico after she took a personal leave from her job. According to report, a suspect in the death of Morales has been detained for being in connection with the murder case.

The school system announced that it will provide support to teachers and kids who were grieving Morales’ death.
Benefield officials sent a letter to parents on Tuesday informing them that Morales was gone. Morales died later that day, according to the teacher’s relatives, who informed Principal Shonda Gipson-Stevens.
Morales had gone to Mexico in late October, according to family members, and was last seen at a performance. However, family members were unable to contact her for several days.
Sloan Roach, a spokesperson for Gwinnett County Public Schools, told the newspaper, “We were all very hopeful that they would find her and she would be home safely but that was not the case.”
The identity of the person alleged to be in detention in connection with the woman’s death was not immediately known.
