Chris Jones Death – Chris Jones of Alpine, Texas, who was reported missing since Thursday, June 1st, has been found dead. According to loved ones, Chris was not seen or heard from since May 28. He talked to his mom on Thursday and no one has heard from him since. He was staying at a hotel off Sam Houston Parkway. The circumstances on how Chris was found and the cause of his death is unknown at this time.
Monica Quiroga, Sul Ross State University graduate said in a Facebook post that Chris Jones was the closest thing they had to a son, outside of their own. Monica said they had big plans with him, and great hope for him. One day, he and Danny were going to have a bucking horse business in Mississippi. They were going to travel the country, sitting in the rodeo boxes, enjoying the fruits of their labor.
Chris came to them in Alpine Texas, as a member of the Sul Ross Rodeo Team. Just an all- around fun guy, with a laugh like no other. He and Lynette Quiroga were best buds, golfing partners. He was “Uncle Peanut” to her grandchildren, and called them Momma and Dad. He lived with them for several months, and stayed with them every time he’d come home. Chris worked at the Gringo while attending college in Alpine. Though he moved off, he was never really gone. He was her Big Black Son, and his favorite thing to do was to challenge anybody around these parts who dared question that he was my kid.
Chris was in regular contact with Lynette and Monica, and they expected to see him a couple of weeks ago. His grandfather had a heart attack, so he wound up not coming. His mother reported him as a missing person when she had not heard from him since June 1st. They found out he was missing yesterday evening, and by 9:45 their fears were confirmed; our Chris has left us.
“We are shattered, and saddened. Lynette is devastated. Chris has left a hole in my heart the size of Texas. Go rest high on that mountain, son. Your work on earth is done. The cattle fed, the horses watered, and you’ve unsaddled for the very last time. I love you,” Monica wrote.
