Missing Andrew Findlay Tech Sydney found dead – Andrew Findlay, a successful Sydney IT entrepreneur, that was missing Thursday after a boat mishap off Watsons Bay has been found dead. Tim Klingender, a famous art dealer and father of three, was 59 when his body was found in the ocean. Today, rescuers went back out to hunt for the 51-year-old, but they now believe he is dead. From Bondi, the yacht headed north toward Watsons Bay’s South Head. Superintendent Joe McNulty of the New South Wales Police Force described the incident as a “violent accident” and said the men were fishing along a rockface when they fell over a bombora and were carried away by a strong wave.
McNulty speculated that it may have caused the boat to capsize, sending both men swimming for safety. At Jacob’s Ladder, close to South Head, the ship is still stuck in the cliff face. McNulty stated, “The boat has capsized into the swell and it has been washed up onto the rocks.” Throughout the investigation, detectives have stayed in touch with Findlay’s loved ones. Neither of the men had on a life vest.
Wearing a lifejacket increases your odds of survival, as McNulty put it. This capsize and disaster was very horrific. While it may or may not have saved their lives at the moment, the takeaway is clear: always wear a life jacket. Search efforts have included Marine Rescue, Botany Port Hacking volunteers, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter, NSW Surf Lifesaving, and police divers. Divers have searched around a kilometer out from the shore amid 4m seas and high winds, and the search area has expanded 9km east from South Head to Cape Solander.
