His first job was as an Explorer for the Tulare Police Department. He was hired as a Community Service Officer in September 2004. Mase did a great job on this assignment, which helped him decide he wanted to become a police officer with a badge. Mase went to police school and was sworn in as a police officer in January 2006. Mase’s career as a police officer has been both successful and thrilling. During his 18-year tenure, he was sent to a number of different speciality units.
Mase not only learned to adapt swiftly to different tasks, but he also showed he could shine. He was a Gang Detective in the Crime Specifics Unit, one of these jobs. He was an assistant team leader on SWAT for 15 years. As a School Resource Officer, he kept our schools safe and helped students. He was a K-9 Officer and walked with his dog, “Cowboy,” with pride. He just got started on his new journey when he was put on the HALO team. (Homeless Assistance Liaison Officer).
Since the beginning, Mase has been a blazing star in this area. His happy, positive attitude was, to say the least, contagious. Mase will always be in our hearts, and we can’t find the words to describe how heartbroken we all are. Mase’s devoted family, which includes his four children, will carry on after him. The Tulare Police Department would like to thank the community and our brothers and sisters from other agencies for all of their help during this hard time.
