Death: Pearisburg man killed in a two-vehicle crash – An 86-year-old Pearisburg man died on March 24 as a result of injuries sustained in a two-vehicle incident at Routes 460 and 42. Milton E. Lenkman Jr., 86, was a passenger in a 2017 Ford Edge traveling eastbound on Route 460 when it attempted to make a left turn onto Route 42 and was struck by a 2009 Nissan Morano traveling westbound on Route 460, according to Virginia State Police.
According to southwesttimes.com, Lenkman was taken to Pearisburg’s LewisGale Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Both the Ford and Nissan drivers, Mary L. Lenkman, 80, of Pearisburg, and Christopher P. Huffman, 19, of Rich Creek, were taken to the hospital with significant injuries.
Seatbelts were worn by the Lenkmans and Huffman. The inquiry into the crash that occurred at 8:09 p.m. is still ongoing.
