A fatal collision occurred on Friday morning in Sibley County, resulting in the tragic passing of a 71-year-old woman. According to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety (DPS), the incident unfolded when the driver of a Chevy HHR was heading southbound on Highway 25 in Faxon Township, just a few minutes before 11:30 a.m. Simultaneously, a Chevy Silverado was traveling in the opposite direction, northbound.

The collision transpired in the northbound lane to the east of 208th Lane, where the two vehicles met. The road conditions were damp at the time of the accident, as reported by the DPS. Regrettably, Carol Ann Deutsch, 71, hailing from Belle Plaine and identified as the driver of the Chevy HHR, lost her life in the collision.

On the other hand, the driver of the Chevy Silverado, a 30-year-old man from Jordan, emerged from the incident without injuries. An infant passenger also escaped unharmed. The DPS’s records show a total of 428 road-related fatalities in Minnesota throughout this year, marking a decrease from the 489 reported at the same juncture in the preceding year.
