The victim has been identified as Belle Plaine Fire Department Lieutenant Mike Gau of Belle Plaine, Minnesota. According to reports, Mike Gau, a 23-year veteran of Belle Plaine Fire Department passed away from injuries sustained in the work accident. No further information was mentioned. The details surrounding the accident were not stated. Lieutenant Mike was truly one of the best.

Celebration of Life
An honorary procession will begin in Minnetonka at approximately 4:00 p.m. and travel east on Hwy 62 to E494 to S Hwy 169. The honorary procession will exit Hwy 169 at Main Street (Hwy 25) at approximately 4:30 p.m. The honorary procession will continue through Belle Plaine turning north on Walnut Street, west on State Street, and arriving at Kolden Funeral Home. Those who would like to honor Lt Gau and support Lt. Gau’s family and fellow firefighters are invited to show their support along the route.

A fatal collision occurred on Friday morning in Sibley County, resulting in the tragic passing of a 71-year-old woman. According to the Minnesota Department of Public Safety (DPS), the incident unfolded when the driver of a Chevy HHR was heading southbound on Highway 25 in Faxon Township, just a few minutes before 11:30 a.m. Simultaneously, a Chevy Silverado was traveling in the opposite direction, northbound.
The collision transpired in the northbound lane to the east of 208th Lane, where the two vehicles met. The road conditions were damp at the time of the accident, as reported by the DPS. Regrettably, Carol Ann Deutsch, 71, hailing from Belle Plaine and identified as the driver of the Chevy HHR, lost her life in the collision.
On the other hand, the driver of the Chevy Silverado, a 30-year-old man from Jordan, emerged from the incident without injuries. An infant passenger also escaped unharmed. The DPS’s records show a total of 428 road-related fatalities in Minnesota throughout this year, marking a decrease from the 489 reported at the same juncture in the preceding year.
