Michael Ruth Obituary, Cause Of Death

Michael Terrance Ruth, age 48, of Hooks, Texas, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 4, 2022. Michael was born October 5, 1973, in McComb, Mississippi. He grew up in Hooks, Texas. graduated from Hooks High School and then received his bachelor’s degree from Stephen F. Austin State University. Michael was a well-loved high school coach and educator who made a difference in the lives of many student-athletes.

He had a kind spirit and never said a bad thing about anyone. He was an incredible dad and made it to every one of his kid’s events that he possibly could. He loved baseball, especially the Texas Rangers. He was also a big fan of the Fighting Irish and of course the high school football and baseball teams he coached.

Michael loved Christmas and was an amateur Christmas light installer. He looked forward to it every season. He enjoyed being outdoors and having get-togethers, cooking his famous ribs, and just being together with his family. Those were his happiest times. Michael was a Christian who loved the Lord. He was an amazing son, husband, father, brother, friend, and coach and will be missed tremendously. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Marvis and Velma Koon and Herbert and Laverne Ruth.

Survivors include his wife Melanie Ruth of Hooks; his parents, Terry and Jean Ruth of Hooks; children, Jade Ruth Harris and husband, Will of Texarkana, Arkansas, Slate Ruth and Hannah Holland both of Hooks; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ronda and Kyle Campbell of Harleton, Texas and Tiffany and Frank Halter of Texarkana; niece and nephews, Zane, Katie, Gabe, and Quinn Campbell and Jackson, Jarret and Judson Halter; his mother-in-law, Rena Watson and sister-in-law, Angie Watson both of Texarkana; along with numerous other relatives.

Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00 PM Monday at Chapelwood Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be at 12:00 PM at Heritage Church with Pastor Jeff Schreve officiating.
