He was pronounced dead after his vehicle was rear-ended by another vehicle on Interstate 93. According to state police, an accident involving two trucks that occurred overnight on Interstate 93 north near Reading resulted in the death of a man from Tewksbury. Thursday morning around 1:32 in the morning, officers were dispatched to the Commerce Way ramp after receiving reports of an accident involving a pickup truck and a box truck. The other victims involved in the crash are yet to be identified by the officials after the crash that happened in Massachusetts.
A 2022 International MV607 box truck with a New Hampshire registration rear-ended a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Michael Murphy when the latter vehicle was “apparently stopped” in the right lane, as indicated by the first findings of the state police.
The box truck was responsible for moving the Chevrolet Silverado into the acceleration lane of the ramp. Murphy, who was a resident of Tewksbury, Massachusetts, and was in his 41st year, passed away at the scene of the accident. The Vermont resident who was driving the box truck was spared injury.
At this time, the state police are conducting an investigation into the collision that occurred. Because of the accident, the two right lanes were closed for a period of three hours while emergency personnel responded to the scene and conducted an investigation. The lanes were later reopened after the scene was cleared of the debris caused by the Wilmington accident that resulted in the death of Michael Murphy.
