Michael Mayhall Death – Michael Mayhall affectionately known to many as “Carl Michial Mayhall” and “Mr Mayhall” has passed away suddenly. Long-time former Yellow Jacket band director Michael Mayhall, a resident of Thomasville, Georgia died on Tuesday, the 28th of March 2023. He was announced dead at the age of 70. Thoughts and prayers are with his friends, the Mayhall family and Thomasville community during this difficult time.
TCCHS Football released a statement regarding the sudden passing of long-time former Yellow Jacket band director: “We are saddened to learn of the tragic passing of long-time former Yellow Jacket band director Michial Mayhall this afternoon. Our deepest condolences to his family and friends, as well as the thousands of young people he impacted through his work. He will be greatly missed. #BestofTheNest.”

Who was Michael Mayhall?
Mayhall was born on September 29, 1952. He served as the director of the Yellow Jacket band for a significant portion of their history. Mayhall was a phenomenally talented musician. His musical influence on many people when they were young paved the way for the rest of their lives, even to this day. Incredible ability as a teacher and communicator, in addition to great compassion and generosity. A rare specimen of the human race.
Throughout so many years at The Jackets Nest, he was an absolute gem. Not only was Mayhall the director of the band, but he was also a dear friend to many. He was an outstanding individual who was also a band director and educator. Mayhall was one of the instructors who left a lasting impression on many.
He was one of those exceptional people who made a difference in the lives of a great number of other people. Mayhall was unyielding and difficult to get along with, yet he saw potential in everyone and worked diligently to bring it out. He was uncompromising and tough. Mayhall was a true educator in every sense of the word. He was always such a sweet person.
