According to the state police of New Hampshire and Massachusetts, a man from Massachusetts has passed away after drowning while swimming at Hampton Beach in New Hampshire. At 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, a good Samaritan reportedly dialed the number of the New Hampshire State Police and reported seeing a suspicious vehicle. The individual stated that they were surfing when they came across two swimmers who were calling for assistance in the water.
The individual was able to bring one of the swimmers to safety and then contacted 911 to inform the dispatchers that the other person was still out in the water. After arriving at the location, emergency personnel were able to find the victim, who was later determined to be Wandy Bethancourt-Adames, 27, from Lawrence, Massachusetts. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where a medical examiner subsequently confirmed that he had passed away.
Help was provided by a number of different departments and organizations, including the United States Coast Guard, the Hampton Police Department, and the Hampton Fire Department.
