Mexico Skateboard Accident – On a Tuesday afternoon, a single individual’s day took an unexpected turn as they were involved in a skateboarding accident that resulted in their hospitalization. The incident unfolded near the South Belt Walmart in St. Joseph, prompting a prompt response from the St. Joseph Police Department at approximately 3 p.m. According to the account provided by Sgt. James Tonn, the skateboarder was traveling northbound along the Belt, moving with the rhythm of the street.
However, a critical decision to turn left into the Walmart entrance was made despite not having the right of way. As fate would have it, this turn led to a collision with the driver’s side of a Honda Odyssey, a minivan heading southward. The force of the impact was enough to cause concern, but the skateboarder, displaying remarkable resilience, remained conscious and aware of their surroundings.
However, the physical toll of the accident was evident, as they sustained a significant injury – a broken leg. Given the severity of this injury, the prudent course of action was to transport the injured individual to the hospital for immediate medical attention. This incident serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of adhering to traffic rules and regulations, even when engaging in unconventional modes of transportation such as skateboarding.
It underscores the significance of yielding the right of way and being cautious when making turns, ultimately contributing to safer streets and preventing accidents like this one from occurring in the future. Thoughts and wishes for a speedy recovery go out to the injured skateboarder as they embark on their path to healing and rehabilitation.
